About Cedar Lake Yacht Club (CLYC)

Since 1899, Cedar Lake Yacht Club has promoted sailing and competitive racing. Located on the west shore of Big Cedar Lake, our club is among the region's finest facilities. The racing schedule takes full advantage of Wisconsin summers. Racing takes place on Wednesday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays. Members can compete in any of the sanctioned one-design boat classes. While promoting all aspects of sailing, CLYC maintains a strong emphasis on one-design racing. Each year the club conducts hundreds of races for members and hosts numerous regattas, which attract sailors from all over the country.

The CLYC's five classes are the C, MC, X boats, and the Optimist Dinghy. Club members can also join the radio controlled F Fleet. Whatever your age and skill level, there's a fleet that's right for you!

CLYC always welcomes new members. For information, please contact the Membership Committee chair on the Contact Us page.

Sailing for Everyone

The Cedar Lake Sailing School is dedicated to teaching children and adults the art of sailing and the concept of good teamwork while promoting excellence through sportsmanship. The sailing school is operated bu certified instructors whose responsibilities include teaching sailing, racing, and coaching on the water. The unselfish efforts of our club instructors create an active and healthy climate for our children during the summertime. Sailing School is open to all of our members regardless of age.

We promote the sport of sailing in both competitive and recreational venues. Many of our adult members started sailing as kids. Twenty, thirty, and even forty years later, these adults are still racing on Cedar Lake.

Sailing school classes are held Monday through Friday. Private sailing lessons are scheduled by appointment. Club-owned boat rentals are available on selected types of scows.
